Surf and Bay fishing, Bird watching,
and Beach adventures
Special thanks to:
Ace Leal
For getting us T-shirts for the event!
On Saturday, 6 March, 2004, 196 volunteers picked up 43 tons of trash from the Big Shell area of PINS. The area covered was from the 15 ½ to the 25 ½ mile and in reality this was the trashiest part of the entire beach of PINS. AWESOME JOB EVERYONE.
The weather and surf conditions were on our side for a change and the result was 10 full miles of Big Shell returned to its natural splendor. This event could not happen without each and every one of you and I love you to death for the effort on your part. I live my life by the old belief that "what goes around comes around" and each of you sure has a good supply of good things coming to you.
A cleanup first this year was the discovery of a small juvenile Hawkbill Turtle by Charlie Krause and his crew. It was tangled in an onion sack and the crew cut it free and enjoyed watching it return to the sea.

A special thanks to all of our sponsors including The Shore Fishing and Casting Club International not only for the volunteers present but also for the sizable donation toward purchasing the T-shirts for volunteers, to HEB. for their generous donation to purchase water and drinks for the volunteers, The Corpus area Dominos Pizza locations for the delicious pizza and volunteers, to Brush Country CCA for their continued support with both volunteers and trailers, to Corpus Christi CCA for refreshments and help in planning and in particular to Mr. John Holmgreen for his work and his personal donation toward the T-shirt fund, Roy's Bait and Tackle for their generation donation to the T-shirt fund, to all the great volunteers from Coastal Shark Fishing, Alamo Area Anglers, to MA1 Gradie Beaulieu, USN, and all the other hard working sailors from NAS Corpus Christi, to Fishbites, Odd Ink T-shirts and Smartshield Sunscreen for their support, and to David Sikes and the Corpus Christi Caller Times, Padre Island Moon, Gulf Coast Connections and The Saltwater Angler for their much needed help in publizing the event. In addition, a special thank you to my long time friend, Ace Leal, for his work getting the T-shirts made and distributed to volunteers, to Mr. Ross Stafford of Superior Trailers 5825 Leopard Street for furnishing a much needed trailer for hauling trash and last but not least to CCA State Assistant Director, John Blaha, for taking the time to drive from Houston and spend his Saturday picking up trash in the trenches with the other volunteers. This event is a good thing, it makes the beach look good and it makes people feel good and it is impossible without each and every one of you. As in every other year; YOU ARE MY HEROES!
